Art We Like This Week - Just about anything by Takashi Murakami!

Murakami is one of Japan’s most high profile contemporary artists, whose works mix pop art, anime, traditional elements of Japan’s art style and flits between painting, digital design and sculpture. They comment on pop culture, mass media and consumerism, not only through imagery but how easily they are turned into commercial entities, such as figurines and posters, and it is this blur of line between art and consumerism which is so fascinating with Murakami’s work.
